Summary:
Under general direction, incumbent(s) develops lesson plans and activities, instructs students, maintains discipline, and evaluates student’s development. In addition, incumbent(s) assists with the scheduling of the class, meets and works cooperatively with parents, and prepares administrative paperwork required for the program.
Essential Functions:
- Instructs students using instructional strategies aligned to the student’s individual needs identified in the IEP and MET.
- Develops written lesson plans and activities by aligning it to student ESY goals and using a variety of instructional materials and techniques. Establishes high expectations for student performance and provides motivation, management, instruction, guidance, and support to assist students to meet those expectations.
- Maintain school discipline that includes providing safety and health services to students in the classroom environment.
- Works cooperatively with parents and students to meet the needs of the students.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance records and creates reports indicating attendance records.
- Progress monitors students’ ESY goal(s) and records results in the IEP platform.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. In addition, verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
- High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) prior to being hired;
Preferred Qualifications:
It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education;
- One year of teaching experience;
- Valid Arizona Department of Education Teacher Certificate.

- Engaging and encouraging communication skills while interacting with supervisors, staff, students, etc. to exchange information..
