Job Summary:
Clinton Public Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated 6th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of ELA curriculum and pedagogy, a commitment to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment, and a desire to inspire a love of reading and writing in young learners. The 6th Grade ELA Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction aligned with Oklahoma Academic Standards, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues and parents to ensure student success.
Responsibilities:
- Instructional Delivery:
- Develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans based on the Oklahoma Academic Standards for 6th Grade ELA.
- Teach a variety of ELA skills, including reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and speaking and listening.
- Utilize diverse instructional strategies and resources to meet the needs of all learners.
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
- Incorporate technology into instruction to enhance student learning.
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Monitor and assess student progress through various formative and summative assessments.
- Analyze student data to inform instruction and provide targeted interventions.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records.
- Classroom Management:
- Establish and maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to promote student engagement and minimize disruptions.
- Foster a culture of respect, responsibility, and collaboration.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
- Participate in IEP and 504 meetings as needed.
- Curriculum and Standards:
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the Oklahoma Academic Standards for 6th Grade ELA.
- Utilize provided curriculum, and augment when needed, to ensure all standards are met.
- Stay current with best practices in ELA instruction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- Valid Oklahoma teaching certification in English Language Arts or Elementary Education with ELA endorsement.
- Strong knowledge of ELA curriculum and pedagogy.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Proficiency in using technology for instruction and assessment.
- Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude.
