Washington Episcopal School (WES) in Bethesda, Maryland, is accepting applications for an anticipated opening for a dynamic teacher of middle-school level math (Grades 5-8) for the 2025-2026 school year.
The ideal candidate is an experienced classroom teacher at the middle school level who is excited to provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences in math and whose passion for numbers and solid pedagogical practice drives a joyful and active learning experience. As a member of a dedicated Middle School team, this full-time position includes teaching four sections of middle school-level math and supervising after-school Math Lab as well as other math support opportunities. Opportunities are available for stipended work in coaching and other extracurriculars; Robotics coaching experience is especially welcomed.
Requirements:
Undergraduate degree (master's preferred) in Mathematics and/or Education
Minimum of two years of related teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level
A high level of energy and initiative and strong collaborative skills
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Responsibilities:
Teach four sections of any of the following (to be determined): 5/6 compacted math, Math 6, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I.
Supervise after-school Math Labs for Grades 5-8
Be a kind and caring adult and model enthusiasm for and love of learning
Create engaging and inclusive lesson plans that cater to a diverse range of learning needs.
Implement effective classroom management strategies to foster a positive and structured learning environment.
Communicate with confidence and clarity to families and colleagues.
Supervise lunch, recess, study halls, and dismissals.
Perform professional duties efficiently, manage resources effectively, and meet deadlines and meeting schedules set by the School, as assigned.
Attend and participate in faculty and department meetings.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $100,000
