What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barback position at Washington Golf & Country Club?
Description:
Responsible to set up, prepare and maintain bars and service areas.
- Inspect the bar prior to opening to ensure that adequate supplies are available
- Request and/or retrieve additional supplies as necessary, stock the bar and fill out proper logs for billing
- Follow set up procedures, to include retrieving ice
- Prepare garnishes, mixes, and pre-mixed drinks
- Greet members and guests
- Report complaints to a manager as soon as they occur
- Maintain and clean bar area and equipment and take out trash/recycles
- Regularly inspect all front- and back-of-the-house service areas and equipment to ensure that sanitation, safety, energy management, preventive maintenance, and other standards of the department are met
- Maintain records of liquors, beers, wine, and sundries to ensure bar stock is maintained at all times
- Clean and lock up the bar area according to prescribed procedures
- Attend staff meetings including pre-shift (line-up) sessions as required
- Continually practice beverage and revenue control procedures
- Thank members and guests and invite them to return
- Other duties as assigned
- HS Diploma or GED
- Experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Or any similar combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated polished, professional appearance and presentation
- Demonstrated organization and coordination skills and ability to meet deadlines and ability to multi-task in a sporadic, fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain quality and safety standards
- Strong reasoning ability and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills to a wide variety of constituents
- Excellent interpersonal/relationship-building skills
- Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to stand, walk, squat, kneel, reach, bend, twist, crawl, climb, clean, and lift up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to handle hot and cold interior and exterior conditions and exposure to dust, fumes and gases
- Must be able to work in close proximity to moving machinery
- Independent mobility
