Washington Gorge Action Programs
Summary of Position:
The primary purpose of this position is to strengthen team collaboration and foster community connections at Washington Gorge Action Programs (WAGAP) and our service area of Klickitat and Skamania Counties. The Education and Engagement Coordinator will collaborate closely with their team to create and implement policies and practices to support our welcoming workplace and co-lead community engagement and connection to WAGAP programs. All tasks will be performed with a commitment to fairness, respect, and empathy, consistent with WAGAP policies and state and federal laws.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience - A High School Diploma or equivalent, AND a demonstrated interest in community engagement work, OR any equivalent combination of education, job training, and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Position Requirements - Must be able to work in a collaborative environment, demonstrating respect for all colleagues and community members. Must be fluent in Spanish.

First Aid, CPR (can be acquired within 6 months of hire)
HIV/AIDS training card (can be acquired within 6 months of hire)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to drive community outreach, collaboration, and consensus-building efforts within WAGAP’s service areas.
- Ability to assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs that align with the organization’s strategic plan.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with the community.
- Experience or comfort working with underrepresented and marginalized communities.
- Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new software as needed.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team, with a collaborative and inclusive approach to problem-solving.
Physical Requirements - There are no specific physical requirements. We will work with individuals to ensure their physical comfort and accessibility needs are met.
Conditions:
- Work will typically be in an office setting or your work-from-home or off-site workspace, but may also occur in community spaces.
- Work is usually within a standard workweek but may require occasional evenings or weekends depending on community events and can be flexible. No overtime is required.
- This position will require local travel within the area for meetings, training, and community engagement. Mileage will be reimbursed.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and facilitating educational opportunities for staff, volunteers, and community members.
- Collaborate on the development and review of organizational policies.
- Coordinate community engagement efforts to ensure all voices are included in program planning and decision-making.
- Collect and analyze data related to projects, helping to identify challenges and develop strategies to address them.
- Participate in community activities as needed, including representing WAGAP at community events and meetings.
- Assist in grant writing and reporting, helping to secure funding for ongoing and new initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
