Washington Internal Medicine, is a physician-owned, single-specialty primary care practice in Virginia, is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to independently oversee and coordinate the delivery of patient care in an internal medicine practice setting in Northern VA.
Job Requirements:
- Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistance from an accredited program
- Valid Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license in Virginia
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Family Medicine/Internal Medicine
- Active NPI and DEA
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in a similar setting (outpatient clinic, nursing home, home care, hospital etc.)
- Familiarity with Athena or other EMR systems
- Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to provide evidence-based care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with medical terminology and ICD10 based coding and Basic CPT coding.
- Strong knowledge base is required.
- Able to handle 20 patients per day.
- Confidence in ability to diagnose and work up basic primary care visit reasons and ailments.
- Confidence in ability to come up with care plans and treatment plans for medical problems of mild to moderate complexity.
- Physician available for support/questions and discuss cases.
Responsibilities:
- Provide primary care services to patients in a primary care medical practice.
- Perform comprehensive assessments, diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests
- Prescribe medications and other treatments as needed
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans
- Educate patients and their families on health promotion, disease prevention, and self-care techniques
- Document patient encounters accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record (EMR) system (Athena)
- BLS preferred
Experience:
Advanced Practitioner: 3 year (Preferred)
