The Communication Arts Department at Washington & Jefferson College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position with a specialty area in digital media and strategic communication. We seek a t eacher / scholar to join our faculty whose primary responsibility will be to teach a digital media course (digital storytelling) and strategic communication courses (that could include PR, advertising, and / or social media). P reference given to faculty with proficiency & teaching experience in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator...) as it relates to digital and social media. We are especially interested in a faculty member whose work sits at the intersection of these fields.

Applicants should possess or be close to completing a doctorate degree in an appropriately related academic field of study such as communication, media studies, mass communication or rhetoric. Demonstrated excellence in college teaching is required. Candidates who also have practical work experience in digital media and / or strategic communication, would be a benefit to our program.

The position begins July 1, 2025.

The Communication Arts Department

We are a faculty with diverse teaching and research backgrounds in journalism, theatre history and production, rhetoric, media studies, communication ethics, gender & women's studies, and public relations. The department offers a BA in Communication Arts with optional emphases in media studies, public relations, and theatre. We also offer minors in Communication Arts and Theatre. Additionally, we administer an FCC licensed radio station- 91.7 FM WNJR, and the college's theatre production program.
