ENGINEERING – Sales Estimating Engineer

This position is vital to the success of our company. The Sales Estimating Engineer is expected to converse intelligently with target customers who are knowledgeable on metal fabrication, precision machining, product development, and other technical specifications. The Sales Estimating Engineer will determine the most effective process to manufacture and the all inclusive cost of each job. The ideal candidate will exhibit a “consultative approach” when working with prospects and customer in the Power Grid Division.
This position reports to the Engineering Manager
ROLES AND RESPOSIBILITIES:
· Develop a robust understanding of our Power Grid Division customers, WMF’s services, and capabilities.
· Develop effective quoting tools to standardize process
· Develop entry level estimators
· Clarify and interpret customer requests for quote and set up proposals to achieve requirements
· Review customer prints, parts lists, CAD models and other engineering documentation
· Work with internal teams to develop manufacturing processes and cost estimates
· Obtain supplier quotes for material, hardware, processing, subcontract, and shipping
· Prepare quotes for each Tank Division customer request
· Maintain an organized system for working on multiple quotes simultaneously
· Review and analyze historical costs of produced parts for basis of estimates
· Contact existing customers to enhance the relationship, seek additional opportunities, and gather market information.
· Coordinate with WMF management by submitting metrics and KPIs.
· Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, delivery schedules, and manufacturing capabilities
· Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending continuous trainings, educational sessions, and participating in professional organizations.
· Contribute to WMF’s long term strategy by accomplishing related duties as needed.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of experience in estimating / quoting or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of metal manufacturing, industrial, or assembly processes preferred.
- Experience working with engineering and technical buyers
- Driven individual who is personable and a team player
Compensation consists of a base salary and is commensurate with applicable experience.
