REPORTS TO: Building Principal
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator’s License, regular education middle school endorsement required
- Strong interpersonal communication skills in working with teachers, students, parents and staff
- Clear knowledge of adopted middle school curriculum and implementation
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge of intervention strategies and progress monitoring experience
- Strong Behavior Management
- Ability to informally assess learning and behavioral needs of students
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work under the direction of the building principal
- Provide instruction to students in grades 6 through 8 in an alternative room setting
- Provide instruction and appropriate intervention
- Work collaboratively with other teaching staff to assist students with re-entry to regular classroom
- Maintain a classroom climate conducive to learning
- Communicate effectively with students, staff and community
- Actively participate in all professional development opportunities
