Exceptional Children (EC) and 504 Program Coordinator
Exceptional Children (EC) and 504 Program Coordinator is responsible for implementing and monitoring the structures, federal and state requirements, staffing, curriculum, instruction, and assessment that form our programs for children requiring special education and children requiring 504 accommodations. As a public charter school, we comply with all federal and state regulations related to exceptional children (special education) and 504 plans.
- Implement and monitor all appropriate regulations and guidelines of programs for children with special needs (i.e., Exceptional Children, related services, 504 plans).
- Ensure compliance of all EC and 504 records.
- Ensure that all students are receiving required accommodations and modifications (EC and 504) in classrooms and on standardized state testing.
- Write and manage EC grants. Maintain official records of these grants.
- Assume responsibility for knowledge of current legal and educational issues related to differentiated specialized instruction services.
- Conduct yearly internal audits of EC records.
- Maintain master schedule for referral meetings, 90-day timeline, evaluation, and reevaluation dates.
- Serve as LEA representative for IEP meetings.
- Attend Regional EC Coordinators/Directors meetings.
- Collaborate with the administration team.
- Attend weekly administration team meeting.
- Serve on School Improvement Team/Multi-Tiered System of Support Team and assist in achieving school goals.
- Prepare all federal, state, and local reports for EC programs and meet all deadlines for submission of all required reports.
- Keep data in ECATS (Every Child Accountability and Tracking System) current and accurate.
- Ensure accuracy of 504 records and EC status in PowerSchool
- Prepare and write LEA Self-assessment Plan for the EC program
- Recruit applicants and lead interview teams for EC teachers and associates.
- Ensure that specialized instruction services personnel have appropriate and current licenses for their teaching assignments.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of EC teachers and support specialists using the NC Teacher Evaluation process as appropriate. Work with supervisees to develop Professional Growth Plans and monitor progress toward those goals.
- Conduct formal and informal observations.
- Performs Parent Education opportunities as needed.
- Coordinate EC related professional development for EC teachers, support specialists and general education faculty.
- Facilitate services of contracted psychologists and persons providing related services and evaluations for students with disabilities (e.g., occupational therapist, counselor, speech).
- Working with Executive Director, Head of School, and general education teachers, assist EC teachers with developing their schedules at the beginning of the year and making changes as necessary throughout the year.
- Ensure that EC teachers and general education teachers meet and collaborate on a regular basis (at least once every two weeks, preferably once each week).
- Review and approve leave requests for EC staff
- Plan and facilitate EC Division meetings.
- Participate in planning and facilitating Professional Learning and Leading Communities.
- Assume responsibility for own professional growth and development: participate in related professional organizations as appropriate; and attend regional, state, and federal professional development meetings/trainings for updates regarding requirements, procedures, and new programming.
Communication
- Articulate current laws and regulations to school personnel and parents.
- Be proactive in communication with administration, faculty, and parents of any issues or potential issues in EC/504 programs.
- Address concerns/questions from parents regarding EC/504 services in a timely manner and follow-up as necessary.
- Articulate the philosophy and practices of the EC program to the school community.
- Ensure that IEP and 504 meetings are scheduled in a timely manner.
- Ensure that EC and 504 records and reports are provided to appropriate team members.
- Report annually to the BoT on EC and 504 programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- NC Exceptional Children teaching license
- Exceptional Children's teaching experience
- Administrative experience in Exceptional Children
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 or more years teaching students with disabilities in grades K-12
- Experience with ECATS or similar program
- Administrative experience with 504 Program
- Experience with Multi-Tiered System of Support
- Experience with Infinite Campus or similar SIS (student information system)

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
