What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate position at Washington Office?
Job Title: Associate at Washington Office ($60k - $110k/year w/ benefits)
Location: Washington, DC
About Us: Washington Office is a strategy firm that operates as the D.C. team for America’s most innovative companies – their “Washington office.” American leadership depends on innovation. That is why we created a home for frontier tech that powers the national interest. We help these companies navigate the nation’s capital so they can elevate their work.
Job Description: We are only looking for people who operate in “beast mode.” You know who you are. If that’s not you, stop reading here. This isn’t a clock-in, clock-out kind of role. We’re looking for someone who moves fast, thinks sharp, and brings intensity to every challenge. “Beast mode” at Washington Office means you own outcomes, not just tasks. You take initiative, follow through, and do the kind of work that makes clients say “hell yes.” If you’re someone who turns chaos into clarity and pressure into performance — this is your moment.
Associates at W.O. are the engine behind our Missions. That’s what we call high-impact client engagements. You’ll manage the Flight Plan (the overall strategy for the Mission), coordinate directly with founders and policymakers, draft killer content, and keep the entire operation running smooth and smart. You’re like a mini “Chief of Staff” for each Mission.
The ideal candidate will possess a keen understanding of the national security and tech policy landscape in Washington, DC. If you don’t know “nat sec tech policy,” don’t apply. You should be crazy organized. You should be the type of person who has been complimented on being an amazing communicator. And you should be willing to do everything from the glamorous to the inglorious – from facilitating strategy sessions with emerging tech CEOs and senior officials to scheduling meetings.
Qualifications: We don’t care if you went to college or grad school. We don’t care if you suck at Excel. That’s what ChatGPT is for (you should be an AI power user). We DO care that you’ve had experience on Capitol Hill, in a national security department or agency, and/or in a public policy role at a tech company or venture firm. If you talk about “defense tech” at cocktail hours, you’re in the right place. If that sentence doesn’t resonate, we’re not interested.
How to Apply: Send a one-page resume to apply@yourwashingtonoffice.com. If your resume is longer than that, you’ll be rejected. Please include "Associate Application - [Your Name]" in the subject line. In your email, sell US on YOU – in no more than a paragraph. That’s it.
Salary : $60,000 - $110,000
