We're looking for an experienced professional who can work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment and provide our patients with the care and support they need prior to surgery. The position's duties are highly variable, so the successful candidate must be willing to change direction at a moment's notice and keep pace with the other OR professionals on staff. The Charge Nurse is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the Center. They will work closely with the Operating Room Manager and the Director of Nursing.
Job Duties
- Contact surgeons to report any delays to their cases and communicate with pre/post-op so patients/families can be updated
- Seek out alternatives during delays, such as another OR being open to setup a delayed case or contact the Medical Director for Anesthesia needs
- Ensure narcotic counts are correct at the beginning and end of shift
- Prepare daily personnel assignments and delegate duties according to experience and skill level
- Coordinate cross-training of staff to create a productive working environment
- Ensure staff are following policy and procedures
- Analyze clinical documentation to ensure standards are met
- Performs the circulating nurse’s role and functions to meet the requirements of scheduled procedures
- Prepare the operating room according to requirements of patient/procedure/surgeon's preference
- Assembles and provides properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments before start of procedure
- Anticipates needs of surgical team and assists anesthesia personnel by supporting patient during administration of anesthesia
- Reviews patients’ medical records/needs to plan care with other healthcare team members
- Assists with the proper and safe positioning of the patient and prepares operative site as directed by established procedures
- Monitors compliance with principles of aseptic technique according to accepted standards
Required Education and License/Certification
- Associates level degree from an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor's level preferred
- Active RN California License
- Current AHA BLS & ACLS Required; PALS Certification (preferred)
Qualifications and Skills
- 2 years OR experience required; 3-5 years preferred
- Previous leadership/supervisor experience preferred
- ASC experience preferred; Orthopedic Surgery, Urology, General & ENT experience preferred
- Strong ethical and moral character references
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians and with their office personnel, coworkers, and other healthcare facilities in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner
- Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, and general public
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems
- Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English
- Electronic Medical Record experience; EPIC experience preferred

Schedule: M-F 8hr Variable Shifts
Salary : $65 - $78
