Washington Outpatient Surgery Center, LLC (WOSC) is a multi-specialty center, with five operating rooms and two procedure rooms, that operates Monday through Friday. The Operating Room Supervisor is responsible for supervising nursing care and overseeing patient scheduling in the main operating room of the facility. This position will work closely with the Director of Nursing and Medical Director to analyze and evaluate nursing care to improve quality of care given. As well as, coordinate and direct patient care and related activities of the facility according to accepted standards. The OR Supervisor will initiate specific strategies to implement growth and promote employee satisfaction in the center.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and monitor operation activities for effective and efficient management of daily operations
- Communicate with surgeons regarding delays and/or equipment or supply issues
- Ensure that Charge Nurse is supported and staff schedules are made efficiently and to the center's staffing model
- Identify training/education needs in the department
- Analyze clinical documentation to ensure standards are met
- Demonstrates effective leadership skills
- Controls staff/patient/vendor traffic to promote quality care and help prevent infections
- Support the facility's ideology, mission, goals, and objectives
- Participate in facility committees, meetings, in-services, and activities
- Participate in yearly review of the Policy and Procedure Manual and downtime procedures
- Promote cost containment and efficient use of facility resources
- Assist in implementation and maintenance of the organization's adopted compliance program, performance-improvement program, and safety/risk-management program
Required Education and License/Certification:
- Bachelor's level degree from an accredited school of nursing required, or relevant years of experience as OR RN/Supervisor
- Active RN California License
- Current AHA BLS. ACLS, and PALS Certification
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in an acute care facility (in the last five years), in the operating room. Including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
- Strong ethical and moral character references
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner
- Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, and general public
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems
- Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English
- Electronic Medical Record experience; EPIC experience preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
