Maintenance Supervisor
Summary
This position leads with our Safety Value and is responsible for supervising the Maintenance Technicians and performing/directing tasks that are scheduled by the Maintenance Manager. The duties include preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, proactive maintenance, training, team building, fabrication, scheduling, and 24-hour plant support. Continuously working to improve self, the facility, and processes in cooperation with the all Washington Penn personnel. The position is considered a resource of technical information on all processes and systems. The Maintenance Supervisor position is critical in helping organize and develop new strengths within the Maintenance Department.
Responsibility for Safety, Health & Environmental
- Individual is expected to perform job duties safely and in compliance with documentation outlined in the Safety, Health & Environmental system.
- Follow instructions for safe handling of materials as per product Material Safety Data Sheet.
- Wears proper safety equipment as specified in Material Safety Data Sheets or work instruction.
- Attend monthly safety meetings as scheduled by the Safety Department.
- Responsible for the completion of Safety Work Permits and Pre-job Safety Plans.
Responsibility for Quality
- Individual is expected to perform job duties in compliance with defined management system requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Direct Maintenance Techs on tasks and develop schedule.
- Responsible for managing time cards and vacation requests for Maintenance Techs.
- Responsible for the performance management of Maintenance Technicians.
- Responsible for instruction/supervision of contractors and follow-up as needed.
- Install and set-up new equipment.
- Trial runs all new equipment to check for problems before start-up.
- Troubleshoot and facilitate correction of any problems or potential problems.
- Train less experience Maintenance Techs in areas that are needed.
- Assists with and develop PM's and revisions.
- Responsible for closing work orders in the CMMS.
- Responsible for purchasing and restocking consumable parts.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance on processing equipment, processing support equipment, utility support equipment, facility related equipment and machinery.
- Follows blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and service manuals to, repair and maintain equipment. These tools will also aid in training of employees.
- Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.
- Dismantles and reassembles machines and equipment to gain access to problems.
- Replaces defective and worn parts, repairs broken parts using welding equipment and hand tools, and ensures safe and optimum functioning equipment, systems, and process.
- Will share value-added information to others as required. This will include conducting informal training sessions, providing OJT information, instructing vendors as required.
- Operate material handling equipment such as fork lifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, etc…,
- Knows and understands minimum and maximum capabilities of equipment.
- Maintain a good working relationship with vendors.
- Support technicians on trouble calls as needed, and ensures needed parts are available from inventory as needed to accomplish repairs.
- Work with management on inventory/control of maintenance parts and supplies.
- Follow up with communication to the proper parties on essential issues as required.
- Maintain a professional approach to daily business and represent the company in a positive manner at all times.
- Assist in scheduling for best utilizing available time to carry out any needed maintenance of equipment and project work.
- Performs other duties and assignments as directed by Manager.
Recommended Qualifications
- Two (2) or more years in-plant experience
- Three (3) or more years experience in industrial maintenance.
- Have a thorough knowledge of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems.
- Understand basic electronics and be able to read and understand PLC ladder logic diagrams.
- Have a good technical knowledge of PLC's, VFD's, and DC Drives.
- Have a good technical knowledge of power distribution systems (ie; transformers, MCC's and control circuits, etc.)
- Two (2) year degree, or equivalent, from an accredited vocational school where subject matter was Industrial Maintenance.
- Previous Supervisor/leadership experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand/walk for up to 8-12 hours per shift.
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to bend/stoop repeatedly during a shift.
- Must be able to push/pull up to 25 lbs. repeatedly during a shift.
- Must be able to walk up/down flights of stairs repeatedly during a shift.
