Position Summary
The role of the Driver reports to the Center Manager. This position, under the supervision of the Transportation Coordinator, will be responsible for safely providing transportation services to PACE participants.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Ensure vehicle operation is conducted in a safe manner and all state motor vehicle operator regulations are fulfilled
- Actively monitor safety precautions when driving to ensure participant safety
- Perform safety checks of vehicles as required and ensure vehicle is properly maintained
- Ensure safe escort and care of participants at all times
- Provide basic life saving measures to participants in the event of emergency
- Assist participants with safely entering and exiting vehicle
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- Licensure and Certifications: CPR, required. Drivers license and auto liability insurance, required.
- Experience: Previous experience with transporting the elderly population, required. Previous direct patient care experience, preferred.
Work Environment: This position will spend 80% of work time sitting while operating a motor vehicle. This position will spend 20% of work time standing and/or walking frequent short distances and pushing, pulling and/or lifting 50lbs. This position may be exposed to bodily fluids. This position must possess the ability to work independently and effectively with the geriatric population, including those individuals with a diverse ethnic and cultural background.
