We are seeking a PRN Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our highly skilled team of therapy professionals. This position will require the successful candidate to work in collaboration with the rest of the staff to create innovative treatment plans for patients. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a diverse population and have strong communication skills.
Position Highlights :
- Provide Occupational therapy assistant services as directed by and ordered by the physician according to policies and procedures and state / federal regulation.
- Observes, records, and the conditions, reactions and responses related to assigned duties.
- Maintains daily records including screens, evaluations, recertifications, progress notes, daily notes, and discharge summaries.
- Input and reviews orders for medical chart.
- Report to the Director of Rehabilitation for all aspects of department operations.
- Nethealth and Point Click Care are used to electronic document care and other patient information for medical record including history, treatment, consultations.
- Observe patients during treatments to compile and evaluate patients’ responses and progress.
Job Description :
Responsible for the treatment of residents with noted disorders or deficits within Occupational Therapy scope of practice upon receiving physician order and completion of evaluation.Optimize the functionality and skills of patients.Completes all necessary documentation in a timely manner.Attend all required meetings including care planning, staff meetings, family meetings, etcAssist the facility in meeting the standards necessary to obtain state and federal certification while following OBRA Resident Right GuidelinesFollow facility infection control policies and procedures.Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
Operates therapeutic equipment and devices including crutches, walkers, exercise apparatus, canes, iontophoresis, electrical stimulators, traction, diathermy, and heat / cold modalities.Nethealth and PCC electronic documents care and other patient information for medical record including history, treatment, consultations.Complies with department policies / procedures and regulations related to infection control, safety, quality improvement. Practices universal precautions and prevents cross contamination.Communicates with supervisor and other health care interdisciplinary team members regarding patient progress, problems or plans.Records daily treatment notes, portions of monthly progress notes and discharge summaries timely and completely.Records treatment charges daily and completes charge tickets in an accurate and timely manner.Instructs, motivates, safeguards and assists patients as they practice exercises and functional activities.Observe patients during treatments to compile and evaluate patients’ responses and progress.Assists in training and orientation of new staff.Provides treatment according to the treatment plan as prescribed, which may include therapeutic exercises, therapeutic activities, massage and modality treatment.Provides a friendly, safe, timely, quality-driven environment responsive to patients’ needs.Assists with equipment maintenance, supply inventory and stocking.Required Skills :
Effective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to maintain professionalism in all situations.Ability to clinically collaborate and accept feedback & direction from therapy director.Physical Demands : Required to perform a variety of duties relative to the job, some of which require a moderate to heavy category of physical demand.Operates therapeutic equipment and devices including crutches, walkers, exercise apparatus, canes, iontophoresis, electrical stimulators, traction, diathermy and heat / cold modalities.Participate in QAPI and PDPM education and proceduresComplies with department policies / procedures and regulations related to infection control, safety, quality improvement. Must have a degree from a recognized Occupational Therapist Assistant Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association.Must be licensed in the state in which they will be practicing.CPR / BLS Certification (Preferred)Job Type : PRN
