GENERAL PURPOSE :
To ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained while providing therapy services to the patients and supervising the therapy assistant(s) in the performance of therapy services, in accordance with current federal, state, local standards, guidelines and regulations.
Position Highlights :
- Provides Occupational therapy services as directed by and ordered by the physician according to policies and procedures and state / federal regulation.
- Observes, records, and the conditions, reactions and responses related to assigned duties.
- Maintains daily records including screens, evaluations, recertifications, progress notes, daily notes, and discharge summaries.
- Inputs and reviews orders for medical chart.
- Report to the Director of Rehabilitation for all aspects of department operations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
Operates therapeutic equipment and devices including crutches, walkers, exercise apparatus, canes, iontophoresis, electrical stimulators, traction, diathermy, and heat / cold modalities.Nethealth and PCC electronic documents care and other patient information for medical record including history, treatment, consultations.Complies with department policies / procedures and regulations related to infection control, safety, quality improvement. Practices universal precautions and prevents cross contamination.Communicates with supervisor and other health care interdisciplinary team members regarding patient progress, problems or plans.Records daily treatment notes, portions of monthly progress notes and discharge summaries timely and completely.Records treatment charges daily and completes charge tickets in an accurate and timely manner.Instructs, motivates, safeguards and assists patients as they practice exercises and functional activities.Observe patients during treatments to compile and evaluate patients’ responses and progress.Assists in training and orientation of new staff.Provides treatment according to the treatment plan as prescribed, which may include therapeutic exercises, therapeutic activities, massage and modality treatment.Provides a friendly, safe, timely, quality-driven environment responsive to patients’ needs.Assists with equipment maintenance, supply inventory and stocking.Job Description :
Responsible for the treatment of residents with noted disorders or deficits within Occupational Therapy scope of practice upon receiving physician order and completion of evaluation.Optimize the functionality and skills of patients.Completes all necessary documentation in a timely manner.Attend all required meetings including care planning, staff meetings, family meetings, etcAssist the facility in meeting the standards necessary to obtain state and federal certification while following OBRA Resident Right GuidelinesFollow facility infection control policies and procedures.Qualifications :
Must have a degree from a recognized Occupational Therapist Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association.Must be licensed in the state in which they will be practicing.Active members of state and national Occupational Therapy Associations (Preferred)CPR / BLS Certification (Preferred)Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, and organization skills.Must be capable of performing the job functions of this position with or without accommodation.Required Skills :
