Job Overview: Washington Senior Living is seeking a motivated and experienced Housekeeping Director to oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of our long-term care facility. This role will involve both hands-on cleaning duties and leadership responsibilities to ensure a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene is maintained throughout the facility. As the Housekeeping Director, you will be responsible for managing a small housekeeping team, coordinating daily operations, and ensuring that all areas of the facility are safe, sanitized, and welcoming for our residents and staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a small team of housekeepers to ensure all cleaning tasks are completed efficiently and to high standards.
- Monitor and inspect all areas of the facility, including resident rooms, common areas, hallways, and restrooms, to ensure cleanliness and safety are maintained.
- Conduct regular training sessions for the housekeeping staff on cleaning protocols, safety standards, and proper use of equipment and chemicals.
- Oversee floor care duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing, ensuring high-quality results.
- Ensure all bathrooms are sanitized, stocked, and well-maintained with necessary supplies.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and linens, and reorder as necessary to maintain stock levels.
- Enforce and follow safety and infection control procedures, ensuring compliance with health regulations and facility policies.
- Assist in laundry services, including washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens as required.
- Develop and implement cleaning schedules to ensure all areas of the facility are cleaned on time and to standard.
- Monitor staff performance, conduct regular evaluations, and provide feedback and support to promote a positive and productive work environment.
- Collaborate with other department heads to address any special needs or requests related to housekeeping.
- Handle and resolve any housekeeping-related concerns from residents or staff promptly.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a housekeeping management role, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, manage, and develop a small team.
- In-depth knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and sanitation standards.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with staff, residents, and visitors.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including infection control procedures in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting, standing for long periods, and moving furniture when needed.
- Familiarity with housekeeping management software and inventory tracking is a plus.
