The Washington State Fair Event Center is hiring a Business Development and Group Experience Coordinator to driving partnership growth through revenue generation and creating extraordinary moments through various programs tied to the organization’s five signature events. The primary responsibility of this role is to recruit, retain, and grow partner sales and generate over $1.5 million in annual ticket sales and revenue for our five signature Washington State Fair events and represent the organization in the community. Key programs : include group sales, large employer ticket sales and events, private and public events and corporate perks. Key job functions include generating leads, managing and growing outside group sales, and negotiating sales agreements and further developing existing corporate partnerships. The coordinator will also oversee seasonal event staff and ensure the successful planning, activation, and execution of events to meet sales targets and enhance group experiences. Successful collaboration and team work are a must through various departments to ensure effective communications, planning and outcomes for all as well.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development

  • Develop and expand B2B relationships, activations, and engagement for all five signature Washington State Fair events driving growth in group sales, Fair day activations and more.
  • Identify and create new assets for business partners, including on-site, digital, and program-based opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain long-term business relationships to foster ongoing partnerships.
  • Represent the Fair at networking events, industry meetings, and community organizations to build clientele and referrals.
  • Research competition and market trends to develop competitive products and programs.
  • Develop, implement and manage programs and projects from inception to completion, creating successful outcomes for all.
  • Plan and develop goals and identify actions to meet goals.

Group Sales & Revenue Generation

  • Develop and implement group sales strategies for ticketing, on-site activations, and event experiences.
  • Develop and implement a B2B sales strategy, including corporate ticket packages and perks.
  • Administer advance ticket sales through discount ticket outlets, including agreement negotiation and logistics.
  • Organize and coordinate group sales events and initiatives, ensuring revenue targets are met.
  • Event Planning & Execution

  • Oversee the planning, activation, and execution of business partner events and group experiences.
  • Ensure event spaces, including the VIP Tent and Fair View Club, are prepared with appropriate décor, registration materials, supplies, and catering.
  • Coordinate and execute community partnerships, including local rodeo supporters.
  • Develop and distribute marketing collateral to support business development efforts.
  • Partner with external organizations for creative cross-promotions, such as the Cowboy Crawl.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise the Group Experience Superintendent and special event staff (approximately 20 employees) during peak event periods.
  • Financial & Administrative Duties

  • Track and analyze sales data to optimize future strategies.
  • Process purchase orders, quotes, and payments in compliance with policies.
  • Maintain and reconcile budgets, including generating profit and loss statements per event.
  • Assist with general office duties, including answering phones, assisting guests, and supporting special events.

  • Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in business development, B2B sales, or a related field.
  • Project management experience, including record-keeping and data analysis.
  • Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with CRM and ticketing software preferred.
  • Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work is primarily in an office setting, with occasional outdoor responsibilities.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform event setup tasks.
  • Extended hours and weekend work required during peak event seasons.
  • COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

    The pay range for this position is $28.50 to $38.50 / hourly based on an assessment of knowledge, skills and

    experience of the candidate offered. Employees are offered healthcare coverage options which include medical, dental, vision, long term disability insurance and are able to enroll in the Fair’s 403(b) plan. Employees accrue ten vacation days and eight sick leave days a year, which can be used once accrued. Additionally, employees enjoy fourteen paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
