What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crew Chief, Meter Section position at Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission?
The Crew Chief Meter Section leads and monitors assigned Field Meter Mechanics or Field Service Representatives, within a crew. The Crew Chief provides the supplies and logistical support for obtaining meter readings in the field and reads the more complex quarterly accounts. Leads large and small meter maintenance work and investigations pertaining to water billing & reported problems.
Essential Functions
- Schedules work assignments for the Field Meter Mechanics and Field Service Representatives
- Reviews field work and time sheets for accuracy and completion
- Prepares performance appraisals for assigned staff
- Ensures staff are adequately equipped for field activities
- Reports unusual or dangerous situations in the field
- Responsible for obtaining off cycle meter readings
- Reports and / or repairs leaks and malfunctioning meters
- Assist with the locating and reading covered or submerged meters
- Assist in the performance of complex repairs on large meters and replaces broken meters and meter remote installation
- Serves as an audience to hear complaints of customers and consults with supervisor to resolve the more difficult complaints
- Assist in the training of Field Meter Mechanic and Field Service Representative
- Assist with analyzing meter accuracy problems and research problem accounts to resolve billing issues
- Performs safety and work quality job site visits
- Coordinate and collaborate with cross organization business units
- Monitors and controls material stock inventory and equipment on each vehicle
