What are the responsibilities and job description for the AACP Tennis Coach position at Washington Tennis & Education Foundation (WTEF)?
POSITION SUMMARY:
WTEF is looking for energetic coaches/teachers to join our team! The ideal candidates will
have a passion for teaching tennis for all ages, and particularly elementary-aged children
within grades 1 through 5. The main hours of work would be weekdays during the school year,
Mondays through Thursdays either 3:30-5:30 pm or 4-6 pm.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Create a fun and energetic environment where all children have multiple opportunities to
participate and are encouraged to play, learn and have fun.
● Implement warm-up exercises, practice drills, and match play.
● Teach the rules and regulations of tennis as well as good sportsmanship.
● Ensure the safety of their students when related to exercising and playing tennis.
● Oversee/manage any tennis competitions that occur on the court of their designated school or
offsite at WTEF East Capitol Campus.
● Record and maintain competency achievements for Red, Orange and Green levels if applicable.
● Refer youth who have advanced to Orange and Green levels to Tennis Director for Match Play
Fridays.
● Distribute certificates of achievement, trophies, and other year-end incentives.
● Attend trainings as needed.
Qualifications
● Must be at least 18 years of age.
● High Diploma or G.E.D.
● US PTR or PTA Certified preferred.
● Previous experience working with children or caring for children preferred.
● Current First Aid and CPR Certification preferred.
● Must pass background screenings, which include fingerprint check and sex offender registry
check.
● Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (strength and stamina) to participate in games,
sports, and physical activities including jogging, crouching, water-based games and activities.
