What are the responsibilities and job description for the Small Business Lending Credit Analyst position at Washington Trust?
The Washington Trust Company is seeking an individual with strong accounting analytical and organizational skills to support our Business Banking team located in Warwick, Rhode Island. This position will be required to research, gather information, analyze, and present credit write-ups to support credit decision making, and underwriting for business banking commercial loans. This position will have exposure to various aspects of the commercial lending function and interact with customers and internal staff.
This position supports a hybrid on-site/remote work schedule.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and analyze various credit information pertaining to small business lending transactions; analyze historical and current financials, develop proformas, prepare annual status reviews, property inspections, special projects in support of the team as requested. This includes evaluating credit risk, industry/market research, collateral, and ability to service debt.
Objectively analyze business financial statements and personal financial tax returns/statements and communicate in written form.
Communicate with clients or other professionals to clarify financial statements, obtain updated financial information or other aspects of loan analysis.
Accompany lender(s)/portfolio manager(s) on customer calls when appropriate to discuss and obtain information for updating files or analyzing new loan requests.
Update financial statement tickler file as various types of financial statements are received. Contact customers who have not provided financials in a timely manner.
Work with portfolio managers and lenders on evaluating new business as the occasion arises.
Additionally, assist with internal and external audits and requests from compliance for certain information on an as needed basis.
Requirements:
College degree with a focus on finance, accounting, or equivalent experience preferred.
Proven academic or work experience in financial analysis.
Knowledge of commercial underwriting/analysis is required.
2 years of experience in a credit analyst role.
Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to creatively analyze various situations and data.
Strong communication skills (both oral and written) are required.
Proficient Word and Excel skills.
Proficient in financial report writing and report maintenance preferred.
