Job Description
Job Title: Marine Superintendent
Department: Operations
Reports to: Marine Manager
Status: Salaried – Non Exempt
Summary: Oversee all vessel operations as directed by management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct ILWU workforce to work safely and productively
- Work directly with the steamship line planner and vessel command for efficient and safe discharge/loading of cargo
- Assist in planning vessel operations as directed by steamship operator and vessel command
- Oversee vessel operations including but not limited to container and breakbulk
- Prepare and call in dispatch/manning requirements for vessel operations
- Prepare vessel reports for review by management and staff
- Keep management informed of any operational issues that would impact operations or safety
- Enforce and implement safety/contractual regulations with ILWU workforce
- Report/investigate all accidents, damage and injuries
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management
- Work cooperatively with other WUT departments
Qualification/Requirements
- Good communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to react quickly and efficiently to resolve any situation
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Microsoft Outlook proficiency
- Microsoft Excel proficiency
- Wiling to work as needed based on the needs of the vessel schedule.
- Ability to work with labor and management
- Ability to hire and fire
Education/Training/ Experience
- High School Diploma, College Degree preferred
- Some Logistics/Terminal experience preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
