Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintains continuous regulatory readiness for accrediting agencies, including CLIA, College of American Pathologists and State Agencies. Coordinates and manages regulatory and safety inspections for accrediting and supervisory bodies.
- Provides thorough analysis and investigation of laboratory procedures and their documentation to make recommendations to clinical and laboratory teams for implementation. Provides guidance on areas needing improvement. Consults and supports laboratory personnel for various productions, quality control checks and improvement initiatives, and performance metric generation.
- Performs some laboratory testing procedures, as needed, to understand, maintain and write/revise lab operations, regulatory requirements, and standard operating procedures and /or processes.
- Handles various government documentation. Manages, validates and maintains documentation of quality control testing as required by regulatory bodies, including but not limited to, good clinical practice, competency assessment and documentation. Monitors production and maintains production records/parameters. Investigates and evaluates events for risk potential, loss mitigation. Completes quality control data analysis and database storage.
- Coordinates human resources activities including hiring, performance appraisal, training, discipline, and terminations in compliance with departmental and university policies and procedures.
- Conducts regular (daily and weekly) discussions about lab operations and regulatory activities with laboratory directors Alan Pestronk, Robert Bucelli and Robyn Reese.
- Collaborates and consults with the Department business support team to optimize business practices and documentation. May prepare invoices, cost analysis, and contract development.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
