Position Summary
With direction from the Manager and Working Supervisor, the Mechanic works with a team of 10-12 multi-craft mechanics to perform routine and emergency painting and maintenance tasks for campus facilities. Additionally, the mechanic works closely with internal customers including students, faculty and staff to resolve requested maintenance issues and work orders.
This position requires physical work including bending, sitting and standing for long periods of time, lifting up to 50 pounds, using heavy equipment and traveling to on- and off-campus locations. This position may be exposed to loud noises and chemicals.
Working hours : Monday-Friday, 6 : 45 a.m.-3 : 15 p.m.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities :
- Completes a scope of tasks and projects ranging from touch ups to large painting projects and make readies.
- Performs room finish application(s), surface repairs and preparation (including mud / taping, hot patches, wood filler). Mixes and matches paint and stains, assembles scaffolds, and safely uses ladders and lifts.
- Proactively identifies, troubleshoots, communicates and addresses needs both without direction when appropriate and at other times when responding to work orders and / or a supervisor's instruction.
- Maintains data per departmental policy.
- Utilizes materials, supplies, tools and other University property in a safe, productive manner.
- Willingness to work in multi-craft positions / situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

The salary rate for this position is determined by the current union contract. Please note that there may be salary differentials for working second or third shifts.
