The Memory and Aging Project (MAP) Research Nurse Coordinator II is a member of a multi-disciplinary team serving as a nurse clinician collecting health and family histories, performing physical measurements, conducting semi-structured interviews and administering standardized cognitive tests for longitudinal Alzheimer and related dementia research. They interact with research volunteers, with and without cognitive impairment, and their families as part of the research team conducting clinical assessments. The Research Nurse Coordinator II may also coordinate special studies, submitting applications to Washington University Institutional Review Board (IRB)/ Human Research Protection Office (HRPO), complying with all required human research standards, and developing workflows.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides direct patient care, including research assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation of research participants; documents in research electronic records, and collects data.
- Works with staff to identify, screen and enroll research participants; ensures lab and data are obtained according to established protocol.
- Educates MAP participants and their caregivers about dementia and dementia care.
- Conducts telephone interviews to capture cognitive and physical changes with the research participant at intervals between in-person assessments and when the research participant cannot come into the office for assessments.
- Rotates with other MAP nurses to ensure 24-hour telephone availability of a MAP nurse to coordinate autopsy arrangements for brain donors (average one week every 2 months).
- Writes expiration summaries as assigned.
- Serves as an assessment video reviewer to assure on-going inter-rater reliability.
- May prepare/submit event reports in adherence with study procedures, budget and established guidelines.
- May assist research associates from sponsoring organization, providing study explanations and reports as necessary.
- Other duties in the conduct of clinical research that may be needed.

$60,800.00 - $105,700.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
