Position Summary
The Genome Technology Access Center (GTAC), within the McDonnell Genome Institute at the Washington University School of Medicine, is seeking a new Director. The GTAC is one of the largest and most advanced academic genomic research and service facilities in the US. The Director will report to the Executive Director of the McDonnell Genome Institute and will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the facility to ensure its own continued success while simultaneously aligning with the overall strategic direction and advancement of the Institute.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for development and implementation of strategic initiatives to maintain the centers position as a leading academic genomic research and service facility in a highly-competitive national landscape (research and clinical).
- Knowledge of and an ability to evaluate a multitude of new and existing cutting-edge technologies and platforms to support the immediate and long-term strategic direction of the center.
- Oversee analysis of RNA and DNA sequence data.
- Evaluate areas of growth opportunity as well as demonstrate decision-making for platform sunsetting.
- Understanding of operational and financial models for service facilities, including financial analysis and construction of pricing models.
- Work within a highly matrixed environment.
- Experience applying genomic technologies to complex scientific problems in biomedical research.
- Consult on large projects with academic faculty and industry partners.
- Stays abreast of changing regulations that may impact clinical operations.
