Position Summary

The Haroutounian Laboratory at Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team on an exciting new NIH-funded translational pain research project. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at understanding the biopsychosocial, molecular and genetic mechanisms that contribute to chronic pain after surgery.

The position will involve conducting clinical-translational research in the area of pain mechanism and pain phenotyping, with a focus on bioinformatics, genomics, and proteomics. The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to analyze and interpret high-dimensional data and to identify and characterize novel mechanisms contributing to the development of chronic pain.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Trains under the supervision of a faculty mentor including (but not limited to):

• Utilize bioinformatics to investigate genomics and proteomics contributors to pain mechanisms.
• Integrate multi-omics data (e.g., RNA-seq, proteomics) for functional insights into pain pathways.
• Contribute to the conduct of human subject research, and assist in patient enrollment, data collection, and sample processing.
• Present findings in group meetings, scientific conferences, and contribute to manuscripts for publication.
• Collaborate with clinicians, basic scientists, and other researchers within the laboratory and across the institution.

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
