Echo Technologist - Per Diem*
*IMPORTANT NOTE: In lieu of benefits due to "per diem" status, 15% will be added to the hourly rate. Per diem employees are offered work on an "as-needed" basis.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Primary: Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations of the heart, for subsequent evaluation and treatment by the attending physician.
Secondary: Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by the attending physician; preferred but not required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Certification required:
- Current BLS certification required.
Certification preferred:
Credential (at least one required or completed within 6 months of eligibility)
- RDCS – Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer through ARDMS – American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
OR
- CCT – Certified Cardiographic Technician through CCI – Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
OR
- RCS – Registered Cardiac Sonographer through CCI - Cardiovascular Credentialing International
Minimum Work Experience
- Minimum one-year experience highly preferred.
Other
- Ability to communicate with employees, physicians, patients and administrative staff in a courteous and professional manner.
POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Patient Care
- Review medical records for patient history and supporting clinical data.
- Explain procedure to patient; provide patient care, support, comfort, safety and confidentiality.
- Select equipment and imaging modalities, position and prep, to facilitate optimum diagnostic studies.
Echocardiography
- Perform all echocardiography examinations offered at this facility.
- Display a broad knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and pathology to obtain optimal studies.
- Select and record preliminary study results on work sheet.
- Make pertinent measurements and label.
- Direct study to Cardiologist for interpretation.
- Consult with Cardiologist about unusual scans and assist with interpretation.
- Maintain ultrasonography equipment. Recognize malfunctions and need for servicing. Ensure quality control procedures are maintained. Order department supplies.
