DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The Paraeducator Bilingual Aide position focuses primarily on translation and clerical support, differing from the Paraeducator Aide role, which emphasizes academic instructional support. This role is exempt from paraprofessional highly qualified status and is dedicated to serving as an interpreter and translator during students' first year in school. Additionally, you will reinforce and clarify instruction provided by the teacher through interpretation and translation. Proficiency in both Spanish and English is essential.
EXEMPLARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interpret and translate for parents to clarify school policies and procedures.
- Assist parents with school paperwork and translate school notifications and announcements.
- Help parents learn basic English and technology through computer programs.
- Support students in learning basic language skills, transitioning from Spanish to English.
- Perform clerical duties as assigned.
- Assist in small group instruction or work with students one-on-one in a classroom setting.
- Support second language learners in the classroom with academic instructional support and involve families in the transition to school experiences.
