What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Compliance Facilitator Full-Time Standard position at Washoe County School District?
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Special Education Administrator or Director, the Special Education Compliance Facilitator performs special education compliance audits in conformance with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) statutes, organizes and oversees department systems for special education and district staff, and consults with various departments within the school district to ensure compliance with IDEA and NAC.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
When assigned to Special Education Operations :
- Coordinates compliance of District file monitoring with the Comprehensive Monitoring Plan and Nevada Administrative Code (NAC).
- Responsible for reading and auditing approximately - special education records with the checklist that aligns to NAC and IDEA.
- Oversees and organizes files during NDE monitoring cycles.
- Synthesizes findings of monitoring to the Special Education Directors with examples of areas for correction.
- Ensures all monitoring forms have been completed correctly and all scores are entered into a database to be shared with principals.
- Shares results of monitoring findings schools with the Specialist within the Department of Professional Learning so that professional development can be provided.
- Responsible for random selection of students and organization of monitoring to assist Special Education Administrators (SEAs) and Special Education Facilitators) (SEFs) so they may conduct monitoring.
- Responsible for training new SEAs and SEFs, updating checklists to reflect state changes, providing technical assistance to SEAs and SEFs with record retrieval issues and the monitoring process.
- Direct supervision and management of the online Individualized Education Plan (IEP) software, including the related services logging platform.
- Responsible for oversight of the IEP software helpdesk
- Responsible for direct communication with IEP software vendor, including when there are issues regarding system maintenance.
- Responsible for direct communication within district and out of district stakeholders regarding Medicaid logging and the online IEP software system
- Direct supervision and management of the Medicaid billing and logging system
- Responsible for the oversight of the Medicaid logging system
- Responsible for direct communication with state representatives and stakeholders and articulate outcomes to district personnel
- Oversight of validating and communicating Medicaid revenue to Special Education Leadership and Business stakeholders
- Direct supervision of the Program Services Technicians within the Special Education Operations, including grades I, II, and III so that compliance audits for logging are conducted appropriately and the IEP software helpdesk is running efficiently.
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to selection, training, scheduling, assigning and review of work, evaluation, corrective action when necessary, providing development opportunities, and maximizing each employee's potential.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Experience : Any combination of education / experience that could likely provide the required knowledge in qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be :
Education : Associate degree.
And / or
Experience : Four years of experience with completing audits and / or technical documentation review.
