Under administrative direction, is responsible for the overall management and administration of one or more major service divisions of Juvenile Services; and performs other relevant work as required.   

This is a Promotional recruitment only being conducted to fill a current full-time vacancy in the Juvenile Services department. The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.

Please note:
Candidates meeting the POST and PERS requirements will be placed in job classification 60015875 (ER) with the salary range of $156,104.00 - $218,545.60.

 

Candidates without the POST and PERS requirements will be placed in job classification 60013702 (RR) with the salary range of $169,852.80 - $237,785.60.  
Five years of full-time experience managing programs in juvenile justice, case management, or community services which included two years of supervisory experience AND a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the behavioral sciences or in a closely related field.
 
 License Or Certificate

  • A valid Class C driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment in this classification.
  • May require a current and valid Nevada Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Basic Category I or II Certificate at the time of appointment and if required, must maintain POST requirements per NRS/NAC 289 for continued employment in this classification or provide verification of current enrollment in a Nevada POST Basic Category I or II Academy at the time of application.
  • A CPR/First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens certificate is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment in this classification.
Juvenile Services falls under the direction of the District Court, and as such, Juvenile Services is not part of Washoe County's merit personnel system, and Juvenile Services employees are not members of a bargaining unit.  However, full-time or part-time permanent employment with the Department of Juvenile Services offers the same attractive benefit package and salary schedule as any other Washoe County Department.

Washoe County requires its employees to reside in the state of Nevada or neighboring California communities such as Truckee, South Lake Tahoe or Susanville as of their first day of work.

Washoe County hires all new employees at the minimum rate of the salary range and eligible employees may receive an annual merit increase of 5% until they reach the maximum salary for the classification.  Upon promotion, current Washoe County employees are placed at the minimum rate of the salary range for the higher classification of the new position OR a promotional calculation, whichever is greater. TO BE CONSIDERED:
