Position Summary:
The Academic Success Center Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting student learning, persistence, and achievement by overseeing the day-to-day coordination of tutoring, peer learning, and academic coaching services offered through the Academic Success Center. This position is dedicated to building an engaging and supportive academic environment where students can access the tools, guidance, and peer collaboration necessary for success across a wide range of courses and disciplines.
Reporting to the Manager of the Academic Success Center, the Coordinator leads the implementation of academic support services, including peer tutoring, structured study groups, drop-in assistance, and skill-building workshops. The coordinator also works directly with students to develop learning strategies, build academic confidence, and cultivate habits that promote long-term academic success.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Coordination & Daily Operations
- Organize and manage the delivery of academic support programs, including peer tutoring, drop-in sessions, and study groups.
- Oversee appointment scheduling, resource usage, and session logistics to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Maintain a welcoming and student-centered environment that promotes engagement and academic development.
Student Coaching & Academic Support
- Provide one-on-one academic coaching to help students build learning strategies, improve study skills, and manage their time effectively.
- Lead and facilitate skill-based workshops and success seminars in collaboration with faculty and other campus partners.
- Support students in developing independent learning habits and navigating academic challenges with confidence.
Peer Staff Support & Development
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and supervising peer tutors and learning assistants.
- Provide mentorship, ongoing guidance, and performance feedback to ensure consistent, high-quality academic support.
- Encourage peer leaders to model professionalism, inclusivity, and academic integrity.
Faculty & Campus Collaboration
- Serve as a liaison to academic departments, ensuring tutoring and support services are aligned with course content and faculty expectations.
- Collaborate with instructors to identify high-demand courses and coordinate targeted support.
- Communicate regularly with faculty and staff to promote awareness and integration of academic success services.
Program Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to ongoing program assessment by tracking student participation, session feedback, and outcomes.
- Use data and student input to identify trends, refine service delivery, and recommend program enhancements.
- Ensure accurate and confidential recordkeeping in compliance with institutional and auditing requirements.
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager or designee.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Master’s degree in education, counseling, student development, or a related academic discipline.
- At least two (2) years of professional experience in academic support, tutoring services, or student success initiatives in higher education.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate student programs, lead peer teams, and support student learning outcomes.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with educational technology and data tracking systems.
Hours/Schedule:
40 hours per week, with some evening and/or weekend hours, generally between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
