Position Summary:
The Part Time Coordinator of Student Organizations is responsible for the development and implementation of comprehensive Student Organizations and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society program grounded in the practical application of student development theory and the mission of the college. This position reports to the Director of Student Development and Activities.

- Coordinate and implement all aspects of Student Organizations.
- Act as department liaison to on-campus social and academic student organizations/advisors.
- Perform initial approval of all club requests based on college policy, department procedure and liability potential.
- Lead club procedure development with support and approval of Director.
- Develop and implement a training program to provide club leaders with knowledge of club responsibilities.
- Develop and implement a training program to provide advisors with the knowledge of club responsibilities.
- Coordinate logistical support of club activities including budgeting, purchasing, room and media reservations, marketing and other requests dependent on club activities.
- Coordinate the annual Student Life Awards Ceremony to recognize students participation and performance in all areas of the Student Development and Activities Office.
- Act as WCC’s Assistant Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society Administrative Advisor regarding all aspects of student membership recruitment, scholarship nomination, event planning, officer elections, and advising activities while ensuring international, regional and chapter by-laws are followed.
- Accompany Phi Theta Kappa students to regional and national conferences when agency funds are available.
Related Job Duties:
- Collaborate with Enrollment Management offices to support recruitment and retention initiatives.
- Ensure events and activities are available to students in both online and in-person modalities.
- Ensure events and activities are designed to meet the interests, needs, and schedules of all students.
- Maintain liability release records for all students, staff and community participants.
- Monitor the eligibility requirements per Board of Trustees policy and ensure all participants meet and understand such requirements. Work with Director to intervene with academically at-risk students.
- Coordinate marketing and promotion of all Student Organizations and ensure accurate and timely dissemination.
- Effectively communicate college policies, department procedures, and student responsibilities.
- Plan, organize, and assess all programming in conjunction with department procedures.
- Collaborate with Technical Assistant on budgeting, purchasing and financial record-keeping.
- Provide Director with weekly report on Student Organizations programming.
- Assist Director in annual program review, planning, and budget development.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director.
Minimum Qualifications:

- Associate Degree. Minimum of 1 year experience in a related field
- Excellent written skills, ability to write proposals and keep excellent records.
- Excellent desktop computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Graphic Design Software, and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a wide range of people including faculty, students, administrators, external businesses, corporations, and other agencies.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Must be detail-oriented, and a self-starter with the ability to think ahead and plan.
- Must be highly motivated and have the ability to work independently while exercising good judgement.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and deal with interruptions.
- An understanding of community college students and their needs.
- Must have a valid Driver’s license.

- Degree or current studies in student affairs, higher education, public administration, business administration, human services, recreation, or related subject.
- Experience working in higher education or a high school setting.
- Experience in event planning and management.
