Job Description: Diesel Mechanic
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Waste Connections. In this role, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance on our fleet of garbage trucks and heavy equipment machines.
Major Responsibilities:
- Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and ensure the smooth operation of our fleet.
- Documentation and Record Keeping: Accurately document all maintenance activities, including parts usage and repair times, using fleet maintenance software.
- Repair and Maintenance Assignments: Review and complete or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform maintenance-related work as required to ensure the continued safe operation of our fleet.
- Workplace Safety: Maintain a clean, safe work area in accordance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
- Team Communication: Communicate effectively with colleagues regarding repair needs and task assignments.
Required Qualifications:
- Education and Experience: Preferably 1 year experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair or completion of a diesel tech program.
- Technical Knowledge: Ability to read and comprehend technical information related to diesel engines and heavy equipment.
