What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician position at Waste Connections?
We are seeking a highly skilled and self-directed Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician to join our team at Sun Country Materials Landfill in Riverview, FL.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Order parts and establish relationships with onsite office staff, equipment vendors, and site personnel.
- Perform repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services for heavy equipment.
- Conduct inspections, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
- Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform service calls as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
This position requires extensive physical activity, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds. The work environment may be indoors in a shop or outdoors on the landfill.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience related to heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
- Experience working on yellow iron/heavy equipment is required.
- Ability to provide own personal tools.
