Job Description
Diesel Mechanic - Heavy Equipment Repair Specialist
This position involves performing repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services on heavy equipment vehicles and machinery.
The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems, as well as utilizing vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
Additional duties include completing required paperwork using fleet maintenance software, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
The ideal candidate will also conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment, perform service calls for emergency breakdowns, and maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
A strong understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems is essential for this role.
Candidates must also possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with welding and fabrication techniques is a plus, as is experience with DPF regeneration systems on CUMMINS and MACK trucks.
All applicants must provide their own personal tools and be willing to work a rotating shift schedule, including evenings and weekends.
