POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Cost Accountant
Reports To: Corporate Controller
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Andrews Worksite Facility, Andrews, Tx
Summary
The Cost Accountant is responsible for ensuring the financial planning of expenditures are well planned and ROI is beneficial to the company. This position will oversee expense reports, analyze data on what has been purchased or the incurred costs regarding goods and services received from vendors, and make recommendations related to cost-efficiency. Maintains all internal controls in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Knowledgeable of all appropriate laws, regulations and specific procedures for processing transactions. This position requires frequent contact and interaction with customers and WCS personnel. This position reports to the Corporate Controller.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Perform cost analyses of company operations
- Compare revenues to costs by project to determine profitability
- Analyze company equipment and prepare analyses for decision making on purchases/repairs
- Collect cost information and maintain an expense database
- Determine fixed costs (e.g., salaries, rent and insurance)
- Plan and record variable costs (e.g., purchases of raw material and operations costs)
- Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies
- Assist with preparing and compiling budgeting reports (for the company and for each department)
- Prepare (monthly, quarterly, and annual) cost forecasts
- Assisting in month-end and year-end closing
- Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions
- Be liaison between corporate accounting and accounting needs at the Andrews Facility
- Perform any ad hoc projects as needed by Corporate Controller or other members of management
- Work cohesively and collaboratively with other team members as needed to complete essential duties and responsibilities and any other assigned ad hoc projects
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Possess excellent analytical skills along with the ability to combine different data and calculate profit margins. Create detailed reports that present cost-effective solutions for the company. Ultimately, build updated databases and manage cost information to maximize profitability for the company.

Education and/or Experience
- At least 5 years proven experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, Accountant, Analyst or similar role
- Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience with accounting software
- Computer literacy
- Advanced MS Excel skills (i.e, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, multiple tab workbooks, etc)
- Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Strong time management skills
- Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information
- BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant study
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees of the company.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
Experience using an accounting software, advanced knowledge of the following Microsoft applications: Excel, Word, Outlook

Pay: $61,794.17 - $74,418.79 per year
