Preferred Education, Skills and Experience : Bachelor's Degree (accredited); 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing a team of 5 or more; extensive experience in the solid waste, landfill, and / or earthwork construction industries; a technical or engineering background is preferred.
I. Job Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the financial performance and operational productivity of multiple facilities, including a Solid Waste Landfill and Transfer Stations. Your leadership will ensure that these facilities meet or exceed annual objectives while successfully implementing key organizational initiatives. You will play a vital role in onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and managing the performance of all Managers.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement operational plans that align with our long-term objectives, enhancing overall effectiveness and defining responsibilities and authority.
- Lead a team of approximately 8 direct reports, including Operations Managers and Specialists, while overseeing an indirect team of about 30 Laborers and Heavy Equipment Operators.
- Continuously assess performance metrics within your area of responsibility, establishing appropriate measures to drive improvement.
- Provide guidance to managers in executing programs, offering direction for modifications when necessary based on changing business conditions.
- Timely development of the operating unit budget, forecasting financial and human resource needs for future periods.
- Assist managers in optimizing budget utilization and ensure compliance with budget constraints.
- Oversee personnel needs, including recruitment, coaching, training, and performance evaluations, contributing to decisions on termination, compensation, and promotions.
- Organize and allocate resources effectively to achieve operational goals.
- Participate in regular Profit and Loss (P&L) reviews and ensure adherence to programs for equipment utilization, maintenance, and cost efficiency.
- Implement safety and productivity improvement programs that comply with DOT, OSHA, and other federal and state regulations.
