About the Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Fleet Maintenance Manager and lead our fleet and maintenance operations at our Sheboygan, WI hauling site.
As the successful candidate, you will have a strong background in heavy-duty truck maintenance and be able to manage a team of technicians in maintaining a fleet of diesel-powered trucks.
The role involves achieving operational excellence through effective management of all fleet and maintenance activities, including cost control, employee development, and high training and safety standards.
You will oversee vendors, suppliers, and contractors in a maintenance setting.
This position reports into the District Manager, Sheboygan Hauling District.
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve operational excellence through effective management of all fleet and maintenance activities within the assigned area.
- Review capital equipment requisitions in line with corporate guidelines and objectives.
- Ensure safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements.
- Manage effective utilization of vehicle assets.
- Conduct fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.
- Ensure maintenance shops are adequately staffed and mechanics are properly trained.
- Ensure vehicle management systems are effectively utilized.
- Comply with and ensure adherence to Waste Management's Mission to Zero standards and regulations.
- Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
- Assist in budget process as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
- Oversee personnel needs of the department, including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees, and evaluating employee performance.
- Provide input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
- Attend and contribute to periodic driver/safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.
- Provide training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.
- Update and submit required reports in a timely manner.
