Senior Civil/Environmental Engineer
">This position requires an engineer with significant experience in the environmental and solid waste industry. The ideal candidate will possess superior problem solving and management skills that will be applied to a diverse portfolio of technical projects.
">You will be directly responsible for engineering and construction at solid waste disposal facilities, will communicate with senior management, and direct and mentor junior staff. You will be continually challenged to use your knowledge and skills to advance WM's status as the leader, and innovator, in providing comprehensive waste management services to a variety of clients.
">The position oversees two landfills located in Greencastle, PA and Hedgesville WV, requiring regular travel to these locations.
">This is a hybrid position allowing some working from home opportunities.
">Key Responsibilities:

- Engage, direct, and manage professional consulting firms to perform work tasks at solid waste facilities. ">
- Maintain strong relationships with regulators and serve as a direct line of communication on technical and permitting matters between regulatory agencies and operating sites. ">
- Manage landfill construction projects from preparation to final approval. ">
- Track capital budgets for engineering and construction projects and report to local management and corporate. ">
- Coordinate landfill capacity tracking and develop airspace calculations and projections. ">
- Evaluate sites for adherence to construction and permit documents and pursue required or beneficial permits. ">
- Collaborate with other professionals to provide innovative solutions to operational, environmental, and compliance issues. ">
- Participate in review of acquisitions and divestitures, including proforma modeling assistance. ">
- Train and mentor WM technical staff assigned to the team. ">
Requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Engineering. ">
- Five (5) years of related experience (in addition to education requirements). ">
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. ">
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of time, including remote locations. ">
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. ">
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, landfill design, and permitting. ">
- Strong project management skills with ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously. ">
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents and regulations. ">
- Working knowledge of safety regulations and accounting processes. ">
