Position Summary
The Certified Sterile Processing Technician cares for and maintains all surgical instrumentation; performs preparation, sterilization, and distribution of all surgical instruments and medical equipment throughout the surgery center, utilizing infection control and safety practices during all phases of the process.
Qualifications
· High School graduate or equivalent
· Computer skills, required
· CRCST or CSPDT certification preferred (will be expected to become certified)
· 1 year experience as a Sterile Processing Technician required
· Experience with operation of steam sterilizers
· Knowledge of operating room instrumentation
· Knowledge of assembly of operating room instrument trays
· Ability to work independently
· Ability to prepare reports and keep accurate records
· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
· Ability to quickly adapt to the changing condition of the operating room environment and determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations
· Can communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Job Responsibilities

· Packaging and/or preparing equipment for use
· Operating medical equipment as needed
· Inspecting medical equipment for functionality and sterilization
· Maintaining inventory of medical equipment
· Transporting, distributing, and organizing sterile medical equipment in designated areas
· Perform and record test results for sterilization per manufacturer instructions for use and state, federal, and local regulatory standards
· Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment
· Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills
· Follows all equipment and safety guidelines and is responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment
· Attends in-services, conferences, and meetings as required
· Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times
· Responsible for knowing and following the standards established by HIPAA of 1996
· Other Duties as Assigned

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
