Description
The Operations Lead is a key member of the operations team and acts as a liaison between management and the warehouse team. They provide support to the operations team by acting as the initial escalation point for vendor and agent issues and guiding team members on how to follow the documented scope of work.

The starting pay for this position is expected to be $27.00 per hour. Exact compensation is based on skills, experience, education, and location.
Operations Lead Job Duties
- Serves as a department/team lead, coordinating the daily operational activities of a select work group.
- Utilizes their operational knowledge and experience to apply a course of action based on preset options documented in the scope of work/work instructions.
- Collaborates with management on service failure root cause analysis.
- Answers questions and inquiries from team members regarding shipments/orders based on the scope of work/work instructions.
- Assists management with training team members as prescribed by the scope of work/work instructions.
- Assists management to influence positive change so that the Company's key objectives and business goals are met in an ever-changing marketplace.
- Assists with quality control.
- Ensures customer orders are picked, checked, and packed accurately and timely.
- Conducts daily pre-shift meetings and monitors for safety and compliance.
- Receives materials, physically and systemically, to be used in order fulfillment and/or places in storage.
- Fulfills and transacts on sales orders, MTs, and STO requests, received either electronically or via hard copy.
- Complies with materials management policies and processes, including first in/ first out, material rotation, 5-S, safety, quality, and best warehousing practices.
- Participates in or leads daily cycle counts, investigates inventory discrepancies and reconciles variance.
- Operates forklift, pallet jack, and/or order-picking machines, ensuring maintenance of equipment is current, communicated, and accurately tracked.
- Communicates via e-mail, the status of material movements and transactions to appropriate internal customers
- Coordinates shipments with carriers and freight forwarders to assure timely delivery.
- Coordinates disposition of non-conforming material.
- Identifies and leads continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics operation. Gains consensus from Supervisor and drives the implementation of improvements.
Requirements
- Proficient use of computer systems and applications (e.g. MS Office, SAP, HIGHJUMP, Onpoint, Salesforce) as trained/required.
- Makes the best use of available time and resources. Takes personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work.
- Consistently exhibits flexibility in resolving customer problems in a timely manner. Exercises good judgment in resolving general disputes or problems.
- Able to communicate effectively and collaborate with team members to achieve common goals. Sees opportunities to supports other team members.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma and three years of experience in logistics and/or transportation
- Experience as a lead preferred.
Physical Requirements
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s essential functions require the following physical demands: carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, crouching, significant finger dexterity, and some climbing. Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 35 pounds. The job is performed in a warehouse setting with temperature variations and requires the use of safety shoes and high visibility clothing.
