Position Overview
The Terminal Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations and business management of the facility, including P&L management, safety management, environmental compliance, and operational leadership. This role requires the ability to manage and improve facility operations while ensuring safety and customer satisfaction.

The Port of West Memphis is strategically located along the Mississippi River, offering easy access to two bridge points leading into Tennessee, as well as major interstates, including I-40 and I-55. Working Manager Role
This is a hands-on, working manager position. Approximately 70% of your time will be spent in the field, overseeing day-to-day operations and directly managing the team. The remaining 30% of your time will be focused on office and administrative responsibilities, including financial oversight, compliance, and strategic planning. This balance ensures that you are closely involved with both the operational side and the administrative functions that drive the success of the terminal.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence are always the highest priorities.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, consistently demonstrating professionalism and adherence to Watco’s Safety and Operating principles.
- Monitor and manage facility and equipment maintenance, scheduling repairs, and maintaining continuous improvement planning.
- Lead the scheduling and monitoring of operations to meet customer needs and optimize available resources.
- Conduct monthly safety meetings and ensure participation across all shifts.
- Promote and enforce a safety culture and empower team members to stop unsafe actions.
- Lead regular performance reviews and ensure team members are well-trained and held accountable for performance expectations.
- Maintain clear communication with other departments, customers, and stakeholders.
- Manage revenue and expenses, ensuring all financial processes, such as invoicing and budgeting, are efficient and accurate.
- Participate in customer meetings, ensuring high customer satisfaction and fostering positive relationships.
- Handle all documentation, records, and compliance tasks accurately and timely.
Position Requirements
- Strong leadership and organizational skills in a multifaceted work environment.
- Ability to manage multiple operational functions and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations, and the ability to enforce compliance.
- A business degree is preferred, but a combination of education and experience is acceptable.
- Minimum of 5 years of operational leadership experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; valid Driver’s License required (ability to travel state-to-state).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or the ability to quickly learn necessary software tools.
- Ability to monitor and manage operations within budget and perform regular profitability evaluations.
