Role
The Operations Technician will operate and maintain an industrial wastewater treatment plant in Bethlehem, PA. Once fully trained, the operator will work independently and operate the plant with limited supervision.
Responsibilities
This role is responsible for the following activities:
· Performing routine system inspections and making small process changes to ensure the system operates as designed.
· Complete maintenance tasks for pumps and blowers.
· Replace media in vessels as required.
· Fill and replace chemicals used in plant operations.
· Support R&D activities on the site and help perform system upgrades and equipment replacement.
· Take weekly water samples and ship samples to laboratories.
· Calibrate pH probes and use instrumentation to take plant readings.
· Maintain a daily log
· Use remote monitoring to monitor the site when not on site.
· Follow safety policies and work in a safe manner
· Maintain a clean and presentable plant suitable for customer site tours.
· Other – Ability and willingness to assume tasks outside of core responsibilities to support the growth of a small business
Requirements
· Experience working with industrial water treatment systems is preferred but not required.
· Hands-on experience performing either construction or maintenance activities.
· Good communication skills (verbal and written); able to clearly report operational status or issues.
· Basic computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with digital reporting tools or SCADA systems is an advantage.
· Ability to read and interpret P&ID’s, technical manuals, and safety procedures
· Appreciation of compliance requirements for wastewater treatment.
· Solid understanding of Pumps, piping, and Instrumentation; ability to troubleshoot mechanical and fluid systems.
· Able to work independently and work well with remote teammates.
· High School Diploma or GED; technical or vocational training in a related field (e.g., mechanical, electrical, or water treatment) is a plus.
· Willingness to work outdoors and in industrial environments in varying weather conditions.
· Must be able to lift 50 lbs and perform physical labor as needed.
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to/from the site.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.50 - $35.00 per hour
