About the Position:
We are seeking a Water Resources Professional to support water resource management, surveying, and drafting efforts in our Worland or Sheridan, Wyoming offices. This position will involve field data collection, mapping, surveying, and technical support for water rights management services, land development, and water infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with agricultural operations, experience or education in surveying, drafting, water rights, or a related field, with a strong interest in applying technical skills to water resource management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field reconnaissance, site inspections, and on-site investigations related to water rights, land surveys, and infrastructure projects.
- Perform surveying tasks, including GPS data collection, boundary surveys, and topographic mapping.
- Utilize AutoCAD Map or Civil 3D and GIS software to create, update, and maintain maps, survey plats, and water rights records.
- Interpret aerial imagery and manipulate topographic data for reservoir design, irrigation planning, and land development.
- Assist with water measurement, permitting, petitioning, and compliance processes related to Wyoming water rights.
- Research historical water rights records and prepare technical reports.
- Apply knowledge of Wyoming water law, PLSS, and GIS to support water resource and land management projects.
- Interact with clients, landowners, engineers, and government agencies to communicate findings and recommendations.
- Manage tasks independently while seeking guidance when needed to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in hydrology, water resources, civil engineering, natural resource management, or a related field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Map or Civil 3D, GIS, and spatial analysis tools.
- Experience conducting fieldwork, including survey data collection and water measurement.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
- Wyoming Surveyor-in-Training (S.I.T.) registration or ability to obtain it.
- Experience with public land survey system (PLSS) and land/construction surveying.
- Knowledge of Wyoming water law, water rights, and irrigation systems.
- Background in agriculture, irrigation, and water resource planning.
- Project management experience with a strong desire to advance knowledge and responsibility.
