POSITION OBJECTIVE:  

The Manager of Fundraising Operations serves as a member of the Donor Engagement Team. Working across the Donor Impact Team, this individual plays a pivotal role in the stewardship of Water For People supporters by ensuring optimized integration for fundraising operations in support of the donor journey and organizational fundraising growth.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:  

  • Proactively stays apprised of guidelines through sources that set and inform fundraising best practices and resources, such as the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and keeps the Chief Growth Officer and Donor Impact Directors updated on changes or new recommendations. 
  • Optimizes the operational implementation of giving opportunities, such as monthly giving, planned giving, peer-to-peer fundraising, and crypto, to enhance functionality and flexibility for donors. 
  • Develops and implements documentation of knowledge and processes for Donor Impact Team to support periodic review of practices and to transfer knowledge during onboarding and offboarding or role transition.  
  • Maintains Water For People’s charitable standing with rating agencies including Charity Navigator and GuideStar.  
  • Manages the relationships for our charitable-registration vendor, Combined Federal Campaign and State Employees Charitable Campaign vendor to ensure all state charitable registrations remain in good standing and that Water For People is enrolled in all state and federal giving campaigns for which the organization is eligible.  
  • Supports expense budget creation for the Donor Impact Team enabling the Team to take a multi-year lens for projecting expenses for budgets.  
  • Assists Donor Impact team as needed on upgrades of its systems and tools.  
  • Acts as lead on contract with Water For People’s caging and lockbox partner for donation processing. 
  • Establishes and administers donor acknowledgement procedures to ensure donors are promptly and properly acknowledged and receipted. 
  • May be assigned special projects as our fundraising landscape evolves. 
  • Implement process changes as needed including but not limited to:

       Fundraising policies and procedures

  • Donor privacy and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  • Gift acceptance policy and internal gift standards.
  • Branding and licensing agreements.
  • Commercial Co-Ventures (CCVs).
  • Contract negotiation guidelines.
  • Establishes processes and protocols within sub-teams, within Donor Impact, and across departments that support how we work together and collaborate to comply with our policies.
  • Maintains repository of Donor Impact Team agreements and contracts.

      Legal compliance and risk management 

  • Maintains an awareness of industry standards as well as internal standards, taking measures to reduce and monitor risk, and taking action to resolve issues that may arise because of a compliance violation, data breach, or other events that negatively impact Donor Impact’s business objectives.
  • Keeps the team informed about how risk is managed internally and through external vendors and sets expectations on ways that compliance and risk management may impact their work. 
  • Collaborates with the Director of Risk Management to ensure processes are set up to minimize organization’s exposure to risk. 
  • Collaborates with the Senior Manager of Information Technology to ensure processes are set up to minimize risk as well as response plans specifically to data breaches, credit card fraud, and protection of donor information. 
  • Ensures Donor Impact Team complies with procurement policies by providing guidance to team. 
  • Acts as key resource on Donor Impact Team for departmental questions related to risk assessment and logistics for donor trips, including Impact Exchange tours.

       Information and documentation management including

  • Optimizes organization of both archived and actively used information across systems like SharePoint.  
  • Administers governance of document retention policies.
  • Manages Donor Impact Team documentation on The Source (Water for People’s intranet platform).

 EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 4 years of progressively responsible and relevant experience working in a non-profit fundraising environment.
  • Strong knowledge of principles and best practices for fundraising operations to support cultivation and stewardship practices. 
  • Experience working within a “team” in a fundraising and/or a sales environment, leveraging shared resources to steward and cultivate revenue and engagement opportunities. 
  • Exceptional analysis and research skills, with the ability to effectively translate information to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to take a project from assignment to completion and manage multiple simultaneous requests for information and prioritize those requests to meet deadlines.
  • Self-driven, proactive approach for process creation, problem-solving and improvement.
  • Highly collaborative style; ability to build relationships with a diverse and cross-functional range of stakeholders and serve as a unifying force.
  • Comprehends order of magnitude and priorities to help realize potential of Donor Impact Team’s fundraising. 
  • Communication, interpretation, and translation skills. Clearly discusses needs and resources important to team members. 
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to handle donor information.
  • Detail-oriented to perform many operations activities that require consistent application of rules and protocols. 
  • Understands data management and has a working knowledge of relationship management/donor management software. 
  • Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and MS Office suite.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • This position has the option to work from an office, hybrid, or remotely at the Water For People office in Denver, Colorado. Alternatively, remote work in the US except for NY, NJ, CA, WA, VT or HI. 
  • Ability to work in an open office environment if you choose to work from the CO office.
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours at times to meet with personnel located in other time zones.

Salary Range:

US anticipated salary range: $68,000 - $78,750 USD. The actual salary will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors.
