*This position will start between $18.03 and $20.29/hr.
There are a couple openings available:
- 1 part-time: Sat. – Sun. 2p -10p
- 1 part-time overnight: Sat. - Sun.10p – 6a
- Substitutes positions to fill in as needed in various shifts
Provide critical support during evening, overnight, and weekend hours to our unsheltered guests residing at the Emergency Shelter. Primary responsibilities will include offering trauma-informed care and crisis intervention, providing information resources, and communicating vital guest information to our day staff. Enforce shelter policies, assist guests with various needs, maintain security, and ensure the privacy of all our guests. Duties will also include maintaining shelter cleanliness, conducting room checks, performing basic maintenance, completing necessary documentation, and shadowing tasks as new team members join the team. The role requires flexibility, with shifts encompassing evenings, overnights, and all-day during weekends. This position is paid by grant funds and is, therefore, contingent upon the availability of grant funds. Additional future grants are probable.
Empower guests by offering supportive, trauma-informed care and crisis intervention. Serve as an information resource, answering queries from both shelter residents and external parties. Uphold a clear communication channel with day staff, relaying vital guest information for seamless care continuity. Document relevant information in shift notes and complete other necessary records such as call logs, task checklists, incident reports, reasonable suspicion forms, and mandated reporter documentation. Enforce shelter guidelines, policies, and procedures. Be on hand to assist guests with their diverse needs ranging from addressing concerns to providing essential supplies.
Uphold the safety and security of the shelter property, swiftly reporting any concerns to the Client Care Case Manager, or to the authorities when needed. Guard guest privacy and safety by not divulging their identities and restricting premises access to guests, staff, case workers, or law enforcement. Monitor use of computer station to ensure use by authorized personal only.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or related field is preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a related field, preferably in a shelter, housing program or social services context
- Previous experience working with vulnerable populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, substance abuse, mental health issues, or trauma is strong preferred
- Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution is beneficial
- Certification or training in Trauma-Informed Care, Housing First, or other relevant methodologies is desirable
- Basic maintenance skills are beneficial
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in using computer software, including MS Office Suite; experience with case management software is a plus
- Ability to organize and track data for program outcomes
- Availability to work evening, overnight, and weekend shifts
- First Aid/CPR certification is preferred
- Proficiency in Spanish would be an advantage
