Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The following represents most of the position's duties but is not meant to be all-inclusive or prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary. Employees are expected to comply with all regulatory, environmental, and safety rules and standards, as well as corporate policies.
As a Cyber Security Analyst, you will be responsible for:
- Continuously monitoring network traffic and systems for suspicious activity that could indicate a potential cyberattack.
- Identifying weaknesses in systems and networks through penetration testing and security audits to proactively address potential vulnerabilities.
- Investigating security breaches when they occur, containing damage, and implementing recovery measures.
- Evaluating cyber risks to the organization and assisting with remediation/mitigation strategies.
- Identifying assets by risk categories to prioritize security action plans.
- Analyzing logs and security alerts to identify patterns and trends related to cyber threats.
- Participating in educating staff on cybersecurity best practices to prevent phishing attacks and other common threats.
- Staying abreast of emerging cyber threats, new security technologies, and industry best practices.
- Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience with technical certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, or Security is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience with incident detection and response is required.
- Proficiency in Python, C , Java, Ruby, Node, Go, and/or Power Shell.
- Experience with Firewalls (functionality and maintenance), Azure, Office 365 Security, VSX, and Endpoint Security is required.
- Experience using the following platforms: Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Artic Wolf, and Claroty is preferred.
- Familiarity with cyber security frameworks such as NIST, ISO, and/or SOC2.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate security concerns to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Operates in a professional and/or business casual office environment.
- This is a full-time position.
- The role is onsite in our Houston, TX office.
- The role is not remote or a hybrid role.
- Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- May require some travel (10-15%).
