Duties
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Monitor and report changes in patients’ health status to the healthcare team.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and their families.
- Help with mobility and transportation within the facility or to appointments.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to hygiene standards.
- Assist with basic medical tasks under the supervision of nursing staff, including taking vital signs and preparing patients for examinations.
- Support patients in outpatient settings as well as those admitted to inpatient units, including Level I Trauma Centers and teaching hospitals.
Skills
- Knowledge of emergency medicine practices is beneficial for responding effectively in critical situations.
- Familiarity with inpatient care protocols, particularly in medical-surgical units or specialized areas such as PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit).
- Experience working within an OR (Operating Room) setting is a plus for assisting surgical teams.
- Ability to engage effectively with patients in both outpatient and inpatient environments.
- Strong communication skills to interact with healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
